1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how The Hollow Between ("the Hollow," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit thehollowbetween.space, create an account, or use its rituals and community features. The service is intended for people age 13 and older.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Your email address and authentication information when you create or recover an account. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider; we do not display your password.
- Your chosen ritual name, profile details, pledge, offerings, nodes, Drift observations, woven paths, puzzle responses, chat messages, reports, and other content you submit.
- Messages you send through Send Word Beyond or to our support address, including any reply email you choose to provide.
Information created through use
- Oneness, seals, lore unlocks, achievements, streaks, choices, progression, moderation history, and other records needed to preserve your experience.
- Page visits, anonymous visitor and session identifiers, requested page, and whether a signed-in account was associated with a visit. Our first-party analytics honors a browser's Do Not Track setting.
- Browser storage used for sessions, preferences, initiation progress, entertainment-disclaimer acknowledgement, and anonymous interaction history.
- For account security, active-session records include a general browser/device label and recent activity time. We do not use this record to store your precise location.
Real-world Drifts provide an intention and a path, but the Hollow does not request or store your precise location.
3. How we use information
We use information to operate and secure the site; authenticate accounts; show and revoke active sessions; preserve progression; display content you choose to make public; respond to support messages; personalize rituals and lore; prevent spam and abuse; investigate reports; enforce community rules; repair errors; and understand overall site use.
We do not sell your personal information or use your private account email for targeted advertising.
4. What other visitors can see
Your ritual name, public profile, pledged god, ranks, seals, reliquary, divine influence, and content submitted to shared features may be visible to other visitors. Public discoveries can occur through rare encounters and other site mechanics. Do not submit information you want to keep private.
Your login email is not part of your public profile. Moderators may access submitted content, reports, and related account identifiers when necessary to protect the community.
5. Service providers
We use service providers to host the site, authenticate accounts, store site records, and operate supporting infrastructure. Supabase provides account authentication and related services. These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy commitments and only as needed to provide their services to us.
6. Retention
Communion chat messages are designed to remain visible for seven days. Other account, progression, public-content, analytics, safety, and moderation records may remain while your account or the service is active, or for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here. Some records may be retained longer when required for security, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or backup integrity.
7. Your choices
- You may explore without signing in, although anonymous browser data and public-site analytics may still be processed.
- You may use Account Settings to download a copy of your Hollow data, reset your password, or remove your public ritual profile.
- You may clear browser storage through your browser settings. Doing so can erase device-local preferences and anonymous progress.
- You may enable Do Not Track in your browser to stop our first-party analytics tracker.
- You may contact us to ask about, correct, or request removal of personal information associated with your account. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you.
8. Security and children
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Use a unique password and protect access to your email account.
The Hollow is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the Hollow changes. We will revise the effective date and provide additional notice when a change is material.
